Sri Chamundeshwari Temple

  Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple on the top of Chamundi Hills in Mysore, Karnataka, India. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mysore and is dedicated to the goddess Chamundeshwari, the tutelary deity of the Mysore Maharajas. The temple is believed to have been built in the 12th century, but the current structure was built in the 17th century by the Wodeyar dynasty. The temple is a beautiful example of Dravidian architecture and is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. The main deity of the temple is a 10-foot-tall monolithic statue of Chamundeshwari slaying the demon Mahishasura. The statue is made of black granite and is considered one of the goddess's most sacred images.
